Good (Spring) Morning

Morning is here again.  Thank you, Lord.

I have my wake-up juice (coffee) beside me, and am looking out to the garden.

I love the quiet of a new day dawning.  The birds are singing (some cheeping).  They all sound wonderful, after the frigid cold months of winter silence.

I just spotted a young rabbit.  The only reason I saw it was because it moved.  It cannot be larger than my hand.  How cute.  It might not be as cute when it begins chomping on my plants, as the adult rabbits do; but I would rather enjoy its presence than not see new life at all.

Thankfully, the garden flowers are waking up, after their long winter rest.  Primroses; bluebells; and snowdrops are all in bloom, with many more strutting their stuff, with fresh green outfits.

Springtime is my favorite season of the year.  It brings with it new life and anticipation of the better (weather) days ahead.  The fall, I agree, is beautiful with colors gracing our countryside and gardens, but it is always a precursor to winter – and that never appeals to me.

Give me spring, with temperatures climbing.  Trees and plants awaking.  Flowers blooming.  New life viewing the world around it for the first time, and everything new again.

I am also thinking of those held captive, wherever they might be.  I pray they are freed to the welcoming arms of loved ones – soon.

Which is your favorite season?

Enjoy your day!

Patricia

Love, Don’t Hate

IMG_2028

Hatred scarred the world, on this day – 2001. The lives of thousands of people, were ended, in horrific manner, by fanatics believing that their hatred of all who do not follow their beliefs are worthless. The Twin Towers were the targets of hatred. It is the perpetrators of the attacks who are misled in that, they appear to have lost the ability to love. Love conquers hatred. Good overcomes evil. The Lord God – the one and only true God commands us to love one another: accept one another just as we are. He does not lead us to kill.

‘There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us.’ (1 John 4:18-19 NKJV)

On this day of remembrance, let us assess our thoughts, words and deeds, and let us choose good not evil.

May I suggest that we pray for love to invade the hearts, minds and spirits, of all who would choose to destroy in the name of their god, or who do so, just because they can.?

Debunk the Junk

Psalm 51:10  –  Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.  (NKJV)

Whenever I check my emails, I see numerous messages of indeterminate nature in the Junk Box!  It doesn’t matter how often I ‘Sweep’ them away or ‘Block’ them, there are still more to replace them the next time I look.  Even the titles of some of these messages make my skin ‘crawl’ and I wish I could completely block them from coming into my ‘box’ – but it is already set on the highest screening available and it is obviously inadequate to deal with the influx of ‘mindless garbage’ that still manages to filter through.

Junk mail reminds me of sin.  It is insidious and ever-flowing.  It respects no boundaries and can be difficult to eliminate from our lives.  It manifests itself in words, actions, deceptions and distractions of all kinds and seeps into our lives, despite our meager efforts to block it.

The best and most effective way to clean it up is to call upon God – give it to Him and trust Him for all we’re worth. When we receive Jesus into our lives, He gives us His Holy Spirit, who then equips us for the life-long battle of discerning good from bad and right from wrong. Often in ways that we would not have recognized or been willing to utilize before that. God’s intervention is the only way to totally clean up our lives. Giving control of everything to Him on a daily basis causes our words, thoughts, and actions to change – they are cleaned up and made acceptable. The junk will not vanish from our lives but we’ll become better equipped and wiser in our efforts to recognize it and seek God’s forgiveness and power to change will become natural to us.

Isaiah 1:16-17   “Wash yourselves”, make yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes.  Cease to do evil, Learn to do good; Seek justice. Rebuke the oppressor.  (NKJV)

In other words, stop doing wrong, however insignificant it might seem!  God sees and knows all our rights and wrongs – and as always, right is right and wrong is always wrong!

Prayer:  Father, there are so many lurid distractions around us.  So many people spend their lives sending out obnoxious or irrelevant messages, attempting to trap innocent and naïve minds. Help us to be guided in Your Ways by Your Word.  Each time sin ‘pops up’, let us be able to block it from our lives, keeping our minds, bodies and spirits pure and unpolluted from the refuse and gossip of the internet and the world!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Overwhelming Disaster

My heart goes out to the people of Moore, Oklahoma, as they deal with the overwhelming devastation caused by the recent massive tornado.

There are no words to describe how they must be feeling.

Families have lost loved ones. The entire community has lost multiple structures, homes; hospitals, schools and more.

Let us be very thankful for all that we have. There is no way of knowing when it might be taken away. It is often in an instant, leaving survivors bewildered as they deal with the massive shock of loss.

No matter what we have; how little or how much – imagine if it was taken from you, right now, how would you feel?

Just a thought.

YO – YO PERSON

Philippians 2:12 (GOD’S WORD Translation) – My dear friends, you have always obeyed, not only when I was with you but even more now that I’m absent. In the same way continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling.

Ever watched a yo-yo? Up and down – up and down. Round and round! ? Excuse me – round and round?

A skilful player can direct the yo-yo up and down the string with incredible accuracy. The players’ dexterity can bring exclamations of awe from onlookers. Ever tried to ‘work’ a yo-yo? Looks easy doesn’t it? But what goes down does not necessarily want to come up again. Try as you might, it will wander sideways, round and round the string or around your hand, hitting you as it travels in the direction it chooses.

We can be somewhat yoyo-ish ourselves! Sometimes in life, especially before we accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour – and sometimes even after we have, we can travel on chaotic pathways through life; trusting unscrupulous people (of course, we didn’t realize they were until it was too late), making bad decisions, choosing unethical lifestyles, the list goes on and on. We become tired and off centre – just like a yoyo in the hands of a novice player. When we become aware that we need to change, we have to look carefully for someone ‘tried and true’, a person who is worthy of our trust, but my dear friends, only God can live up to that expectation – no person is perfect enough.

We can continue in our own direction, doing as we please and sometimes hurting ourselves and those around us, or we can choose the way of complete truth – GOD! We alone can decide to invite Jesus into our lives, if we never have, and surrender (or re-surrender) our lives to His Lordship and in accordance with His direction in His Word, and you know what? He really does make a difference. God’s Word, is a true blueprint of right and wrong – His direction for the path you need to take, to make your life so much better than you can ever imagine. Don’t take my word for it – try it and see! You’ll be glad you did.

Psalm 118:8-9 It is better to trust in the Lord, Than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the Lord, Than to put confidence in princes. (NKJV)

Prayer: Father, we always think that we know better and always find out too late that we are ‘off centre’ because we have chosen wrongly. Please centre us! Focus us! Guide us because only then can we begin to choose wisely, and stop being a yoyo person. In Jesus precious Name, Amen.

Progress

P1000985

The definition of progress = to move forward, to develop to a higher, better, or more advanced stage. (Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary)

I claim this for me today. My Amazon application for publishing has been accepted and should be up and running later today. It is quite an exciting feeling. A sense of accomplishment after months of hard work. The reward for great effort.

There were times I wanted to throw my manuscript out the window. I got so sick and tired of reading it. But, of course, I persevered and now I can see the results.

I began a second book after writing a children’s story and compiling a book of devotionals, but chose to leave it ‘on the back burner’. Writing is exhausting. No, that is not true, writing is fun and can be cathartic in many ways; it is the editing that is exhausting. So, anyone who is struggling through the editing of their work – soldier on, because all your effort will be rewarded.

New Steps

Today, I can relax – just a little – knowing that yesterday ended with my accomplishing a great deal.

I am learning more and more about the technology I need to access, and use, in order to publish an e-book.

I am NOT a techy-person and so, having to download and use e-book previewers to look at my book through an e-reader’s eyes, is a whole new step for me.

Yesterday, I came to the end of my day drained and tired. My eyes thought I was deliberately overworking them. Actually, I was. I wanted to achieve one more new step, towards publishing.

Today, I sat in front of my computer, saw the link to download an e-book previewer and downloaded it. Yesterday, I was too tired to even want to think about that step. Now I am ready for what comes next. I like being here.

I’ve learned that nothing good comes to you without effort on your part. Perseverance pays off with outstanding results when you choose to not give up.

So, regardless, of the cold outside; here in my office I am exactly where I need to be, as far as progression towards publication is concerned.

Have a blessed weekend.

Late Start

Lake View

I planned to be up early today, and to be productive. Well, that was not so easy. I went back to sleep after the alarm.

However, here I am. Ready and willing despite the late start.

My primary focus these days is on getting my book to the next step, for publication. My goal is to have it available as an e-book, before or on May 5th.

My thanks to everyone who has helped me along the way.

Another New Day

Views0000

It is a bright, fresh and sunny morning. Birds are collecting nesting material, while others are singing themselves hoarse.

I love it. It truly feels as if spring is here.

I am starting a whole new blog. I will be publishing my book very soon and wanted a space dedicated to all things new.

I will be moving my posts from http://pattersmatters.wordpress.com and http://pepeprays.wordpress.com to this site eventually; but as with my books, it will take time.

Meanwhile, enjoy this perfectly beautiful day, and stay tuned for more.

God bless you.
