You could say that butter tarts make the cold go away. The heavy snow today stifled any desire I had to shop. Too much cold; too much snow. As I find it very hard to just sit, I decided to get creative in the kitchen. It’s a warm way to spend such a day too. Beginning with soups, I made two. One thick pea and ham, and one lentil soup. This afternoon I made up this really easy recipe for butter tarts. Very easy and, I can attest to this, very yummy. Now I need to freeze some, otherwise they will vanish pretty quickly. 🙂 Recipe available if you’d like to try them for yourself.
Like most people, I am getting ready for Christmas. To me it is a wonderful time of year. It no longer holds the magic of my childhood memories, but it does bring the promise of time with family. This is one reason it is so precious to me. Our children and their families are increasingly busy through the year just doing what needs to be done, and we seem to spend less and less time with them. So this makes Christmas particularly important now.
I am thankful that I have family and friends with whom I can celebrate this special time of year. So many others have been split asunder by death, or war, or other tragedies.
It is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, hence Christmas, and for we who choose to believe in the power and hope of Jesus (Christians) it makes the busyness of Christmas all worthwhile; relevant.
So enjoy each busy moment and anticipate the making of your own new (magic) memories with your family, or social gatherings.
Put up that Christmas tree and remember that Jesus is the reason for the season, and try to savour each moment.
Merry Christmas to you, one and all.
After being hit by a substantial snowfall yesterday today is showing promise.
This new day displays beautiful art in the sky.
Living close to a lake, we experience truly lovely skies as the sun rises. Today is no exception. Despite the wintry landscape the rising sun casts deep contrasts of light and shadow wherever you look. A delight to behold.
Methinks this wasp nest will not survive. Crows continually visit, pulling it apart.
Make this new day count. Smile much and be thankful for family, friends and good neighbours.
