Over the past few days we have experienced torrential downpours and thunder during one night that sounded like a bomb blast it was so loud and sudden.
The gardens are looking decidedly fresher, greener and more colorful, so the rain is a blessing, although a break would be nice for a little while.
My favorite thing is to sit out on the patio and just watch the day go by, as well as the many visitors that come to our garden.
Squirrels (pesky creatures – always digging up my plants). Blue Jays; robins; chickadees; cardinals; woodpeckers – from the small downy to the larger pileated woodpecker. All are a very welcome sight. The bird house has attracted sparrows this year. They are nesting and make an awful din. As winter left us, I was delighted to see them busily collecting materials for a nest: now I’m not so sure, because their incessant one-tone banter gets a little dreary to listen to. Oh well, they’re only doing what sparrows do.
Yesterday, I spent time with some lovely ladies for a luncheon, given by our local Christian Women’s Club. It was a welcome change to my routine (which can become very routine). Today, I’ll be spending time with friends as we support a Fashion Show, here in the park. The proceeds from the sale of items will be given to Hospice, to help them with the wonderful work they do in the community.
At the end of the evening, the ladies will come back to my house where we’ll enjoy tea, coffee and dessert. I am looking forward to spending time with them all immensely. They are great fun to be with and wonderful friends. We attend this event each year and usually come away with a few designer pieces to add to our wardrobes.
Hope you all enjoy a good, relaxing weekend. Bye for now,
