One Step Forward, Two Steps Back…….

It appears that Murphy’s Law is in effect in my life. The good news of recent days, has been temporarily eclipsed by challenges.  I could easily give in to the overwhelming anxiety, but what good would that do?

I choose to carry on, undeterred, and await resolutions that will surely arrive. God is in control and so, I know that everything will work out for the best – it is this middle area that is wearing.

What are you trying to overcome today?

Psalm 23 is of great comfort when trouble strikes.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.  He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters, He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.  Yea, though I walk in the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.  For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.  (NKJV)

Philippians 2:12 (GOD’S WORD Translation) – My dear friends, you have always obeyed, not only when I was with you but even more now that I’m absent. In the same way continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling.

Ever watched a yo-yo? Up and down – up and down. Round and round! ? Excuse me – round and round?

A skilful player can direct the yo-yo up and down the string with incredible accuracy. The players’ dexterity can bring exclamations of awe from onlookers. Ever tried to ‘work’ a yo-yo? Looks easy doesn’t it? But what goes down does not necessarily want to come up again. Try as you might, it will wander sideways, round and round the string or around your hand, hitting you as it travels in the direction it chooses.

We can be somewhat yoyo-ish ourselves! Sometimes in life, especially before we accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour – and sometimes even after we have, we can travel on chaotic pathways through life; trusting unscrupulous people (of course, we didn’t realize they were until it was too late), making bad decisions, choosing unethical lifestyles, the list goes on and on. We become tired and off centre – just like a yoyo in the hands of a novice player. When we become aware that we need to change, we have to look carefully for someone ‘tried and true’, a person who is worthy of our trust, but my dear friends, only God can live up to that expectation – no person is perfect enough.

We can continue in our own direction, doing as we please and sometimes hurting ourselves and those around us, or we can choose the way of complete truth – GOD! We alone can decide to invite Jesus into our lives, if we never have, and surrender (or re-surrender) our lives to His Lordship and in accordance with His direction in His Word, and you know what? He really does make a difference. God’s Word, is a true blueprint of right and wrong – His direction for the path you need to take, to make your life so much better than you can ever imagine. Don’t take my word for it – try it and see! You’ll be glad you did.

Psalm 118:8-9 It is better to trust in the Lord, Than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the Lord, Than to put confidence in princes. (NKJV)

Prayer: Father, we always think that we know better and always find out too late that we are ‘off centre’ because we have chosen wrongly. Please centre us! Focus us! Guide us because only then can we begin to choose wisely, and stop being a yoyo person. In Jesus precious Name, Amen.

The definition of progress = to move forward, to develop to a higher, better, or more advanced stage. (Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary)

I claim this for me today. My Amazon application for publishing has been accepted and should be up and running later today. It is quite an exciting feeling. A sense of accomplishment after months of hard work. The reward for great effort.

There were times I wanted to throw my manuscript out the window. I got so sick and tired of reading it. But, of course, I persevered and now I can see the results.

I began a second book after writing a children’s story and compiling a book of devotionals, but chose to leave it ‘on the back burner’. Writing is exhausting. No, that is not true, writing is fun and can be cathartic in many ways; it is the editing that is exhausting. So, anyone who is struggling through the editing of their work – soldier on, because all your effort will be rewarded. for A Stolen Childhood, Eleanor’s Story

A New Day

The day has begun with sunshine and crisp, refreshing air. Beautiful.

My hope for today is that I reach a new level of accomplishment.

Yesterday, my e-book was published on Smashwords

The link is:

Check it out. You can read a portion for free, so you have nothing to lose.

My goal is to add the book to and reach the end of the day able to place a tick beside it on my list of things to do.

This is all new territory for me, and is uncomfortable but I consider that if nothing is ventured, there is nothing gained, so I move ahead undeterred by my fears.

Have a wonderful day. 🙂

A Stolen Childhood, Eleanor’s Story is now available.

New Steps

Today, I can relax – just a little – knowing that yesterday ended with my accomplishing a great deal.

I am learning more and more about the technology I need to access, and use, in order to publish an e-book.

I am NOT a techy-person and so, having to download and use e-book previewers to look at my book through an e-reader’s eyes, is a whole new step for me.

Yesterday, I came to the end of my day drained and tired. My eyes thought I was deliberately overworking them. Actually, I was. I wanted to achieve one more new step, towards publishing.

Today, I sat in front of my computer, saw the link to download an e-book previewer and downloaded it. Yesterday, I was too tired to even want to think about that step. Now I am ready for what comes next. I like being here.

I’ve learned that nothing good comes to you without effort on your part. Perseverance pays off with outstanding results when you choose to not give up.

So, regardless, of the cold outside; here in my office I am exactly where I need to be, as far as progression towards publication is concerned.

Have a blessed weekend.

Overcoming Obstacles

After the Storm0010

The title says it all. I AM overcoming obstacles. Perhaps, I should say I am ‘Climbing My Mountains’.

My book has been sent for conversion to an e-book and this created another list of things to do.

I needed to set up an Amazon seller account for international as well as, Canadian sales.

Followed up to ensure the copyright agency is processing my application.

Worked on a cover for my book, for when I get it printed.

Paid cursory attention to emails unless they were business related.

On and on – the hours have ticked away and my eyes are weary from the work. However, I have made major strides in the right direction this week – – forward. I have been setting the stage for future writing, as well as, creating a blog that will become my platform for all writing endeavors and updates.

I appreciate the support I am receiving from you all. You know who I mean. Thank you – thank you, thank you.!/skyscapes

Late Start

Lake View

I planned to be up early today, and to be productive. Well, that was not so easy. I went back to sleep after the alarm.

However, here I am. Ready and willing despite the late start.

My primary focus these days is on getting my book to the next step, for publication. My goal is to have it available as an e-book, before or on May 5th.

My thanks to everyone who has helped me along the way.

Another New Day

It is a bright, fresh and sunny morning. Birds are collecting nesting material, while others are singing themselves hoarse.

I love it. It truly feels as if spring is here.

I am starting a whole new blog. I will be publishing my book very soon and wanted a space dedicated to all things new.

I will be moving my posts from and to this site eventually; but as with my books, it will take time.

Meanwhile, enjoy this perfectly beautiful day, and stay tuned for more.

God bless you.
